To help you understand the services offered by ​Alpha Décor, here are answers to some frequently asked questions. 

Pricing

HOW MUCH WILL MY SOFT FURNISHINGS COST?
As every item is bespoke the cost will depend on your requirements. However, to give you an indication of my prices I have these two scenarios:
  • A pair of hand sewn lined curtain for window. Pole length is 80", drop of curtain is 90". You have requested these to be lined with a pinch pleated heading. Labor cost for this treatment would be $160 (plus tax) plus the cost of the lining fabric. You will need 12 yards of fabric to complete this project. 
  • A Roman shade 40" wide by 50" long. Labor would be $167 (plus tax). Finishing will be with a corded wooden batten, and blackout lining. You will need 1.5 yards of fabric. 
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
As well as the making cost, your estimate usually includes any board mounts and delivery within the area. The cost of your hardware (track or pole fitting) is not included. 
HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY SOFT FURNISHINGS?
Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa) through PayPal. A 50% fabricating deposit will be required at confirmation of the order with the balance due upon delivery/collection. Where supply of fabric is required the fabric component must be paid in FULL in addition to the deposit. Fabric will not be ordered until this component is received. 
I HAVE JUST MOVED HOUSES AND HAVE MANY ROOMS THAT NEED CURTAINS, DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
Yes, subject to the amount of soft furnishings required I can give my clients discounts. 
DO YOU OFFER TRADE PRICES?
For Interior Designers or soft furnishings retailers I can offer trade prices; please contact me to discuss how we can work together.

WHAT GUARANTEES DO YOU GIVE?
Customer satisfaction is very important to me, so from the initial consultation to completion of your soft furnishings you can be assured that the service you will receive will be the best it can be. I am very proud of the work I produce and wouldn't be happy supplying a client with soft furnishings I wouldn't want myself. My over 18 years' experience in soft furnishings is a guarantee of the standard of my work and dedication.

I started the business in 2007 after spending many years making soft furnishings for myself and family. 

Design

I NEED NEW SOFT FURNISHINGS BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START.
Your free home consultation is an opportunity to discuss your requirements and possible solutions. I have a number of books with design ideas and my knowledge of fabrics will help us decide on the best soft furnishings for your home. 
CAN YOU SUPPLY FABRIC?
Yes, I have a number of sample books and resources to source the right fabric for your requirements.
I LIVE OUTSIDE YOUR AREA, CAN YOU STILL HELP?
Possibly, but it depends on what you would like. Smaller items like pillows, cushions, shades, table clothes, etc can be mailed. However, this method of delivery is not always suitable for a large pair of curtains, though has been accomplished on many occasions, cost of course being an issue. Please contact me for more information. 
I WANT SOMETHING UNUSUAL, CAN YOU HELP?
Yes, most of my work is making curtains or blinds however every now and then I am asked to make something different. For one of my regular clients I have become a specialist in Swags & Tails and I am often asked to create very specific and unusual soft furnishings. Please contact me to discuss what you would like and hopefully I can help. 

General Questions

HOW DOES YOUR SERVICE WORK?
This usually starts with a telephone call from you. After establishing what kind of treatment you are looking to have fabricated, and for what rooms, etc., and appointment is made to visit. 
IS THE APPOINTMENT AT YOUR LOCATION OR MINE?
We meet at your home or location so that your windows can be measured and accessed. It is also invaluable to be with your furniture, carpeting, wall color, lighting, etc., when making the selections. 
HOW LONG SHOULD I EXPECT THE APPOINTMENT TO LAST?
We usually allow an hour or two for the initial appointment. This, of course, could be much less, depending on what treatments we are looking at. 
IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THIS APPOINTMENT?
If the consultation is within the Portland, Maine area then this free of charge. Anything out of this area will attract a fee, which on confirmation of your order, gets deducted. Sadly we cannot refund fees for jobs that are not pursued. 
ARE YOU AVAILABLE EVENINGS OR WEEKENDS?
We are available most evenings and on Saturdays, but not on Sundays. 
HOW DO I KEEP MY SOFT FURNISHINGS CLEAN?
With the exception bedding I do not recommend washing your soft furnishings, The fabrics layered together may react differently when washed; a regular vacuum to remove dust should be enough to keep them looking good. If absolutely necessary your soft furnishings could be dry cleaned but only by an experienced professional dry cleaner. Washable cushion covers must be specifically requested before ordering so that I can ensure that you have chosen a suitable fabric. 
HOW SOON AFTER CONFIRMING MY ORDER CAN I EXPECT TO RECEIVE MY SOFT FURNISHINGS?
I will endeavor to complete your soft furnishings as soon as possible, but sometimes there may be factors outside of my control that affects how long it may take such as fabric availability. Once I have receipt of your fabric and other components I can provide an expected delivery date. 
CAN YOU FIT TRACKS OR POLES?
Unfortunately I am not qualified or insured to fit tracks and poles. Most of my clients use their local "handyman" or if necessary I can supply details of professional track fitters. 
WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND AFTER ORDERING?
Once the order has been taken and the fabric ordered there is little room for change. If possible I will try to make alterations to your order but there may be extra costs involved.
