Please allow me introduce Janet! She was born in London, UK (her parents originate from Ghana), and she currently resides in Ellenwood GA, with her loving husband Bob and beautiful daughter Bobbiella. Janet began her work life initially as a medical secretary and went on to truly make the mark as a design professional, training at the London Guildhall University (now known as the London Metropolitan University) where she was awarded first place in Creative Crafts by the Worshipful Company of Upholders for the graduating classes of 1998 and 2001. To date, she has over twenty years’ experience in designing and fabricating window treatments and soft furnishings (cushions & pillows, bed coverings, table runners, etc). She has also had the unique opportunity of teaching soft window treatments and furnishings at the Community of Education, Lewisham, London, to various groups of students who have undoubtedly gained tremendous insights and knowledge.
She is extremely passionate about her work and believes that a home should reflect one’s most intimate essence and style, as much as exuding an ambience that is welcoming for friends and comforting for families. Her ultimate goal is to create high quality, unique custom-made furnishings at affordable prices. To achieve this, she attends continuing educational conferences and networks with other design professionals worldwide to keep abreast with developments in designs and hardware, and to expand her knowledge base. She is an associate member of the Advanced Window Fashions Certified Program (WFCP), a member of the Custom Home Furnishing Network, and DraperyPro. When not designing or fabricating, she enjoys organizing functions such as conferences and weddings. She loves cooking, entertaining and listening to music.
Janet is also the brain behind ByAlpha CoutureTM, a women’s accessories brand that offers beautiful, unique and outstanding headpieces, to the fashion-conscious individual. With a zeal for constant development, she sought to find other means of utilizing her time. Her urge to explore millinery became increasingly great when she observed the need to bring some real high fashion to the state of Maine, where she resided for 15 years before relocating to GA some two years ago! She designs incredibly unique and colorful head pieces with accents and fine details which are not only different, but are sophisticated and beautiful. She has a passion for fashion, so capturing the personality of her customers and seeing them glow with delight at what she has created for them comes naturally. She takes advantage of e-media, including social media, and online sources to expose her work, add to her skills and increase her range of styles offered to her clients. Early days yet, but from runways to race-courses, from pop-promos to royal garden parties, her aim is to add the exclamation mark to every fashion statement.
“I am indeed grateful to God for gracing me with the gifts of my hands, and for the special people He has placed in my life for me to realize these gifts. To all of you, I say thank you for your prayers and support – with His guidance, I am more than delighted to have the privilege to design and create unique head pieces that will highlight and compliment your exclusive personality and occasion. I am confident that “He who began a good work in me, will carry this through…”
